CASTING BREAKDOWN: CAST OF EIGHT ACTORS (Actors will be playing multiple roles:)
ALEX- 22 year-old attractive Caucasian male. Very fit, starts the play with a very cocky attitude. Gets his strength and determination from his father and his soul from his mother. The love of his life is his singing voice.
LILI- 18 year-old Caucasian female. ALEX's sister. A Sorority girl at University of Kentucky. Very attractive, slightly ditzy, somewhat lazy, but ultimately very smart. Not passionate about many things. ALEX has always been her hero and she would do anything for him.
WILL- Mid 40's Caucasian male. ALEX's father. In very good shape. Had a traumatic brain injury when he was ALEX's age and has never quite been the same. Very fit, quirky, short temper, and often intimidating without meaning to be. Great love for his family but not good at showing it.
CELIA- Late 40's Caucasian female. ALEX's mother. She is the ultimate caregiver. Has a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Ultimately would sacrifice her life for her loved ones. The glue that holds the family together and ALEX's main source of strength.
DEVON- 22 year-old Caucasian attractive female. She's an MT student in ALEX's class, one of his best friends, and also his roommate. Extremely talented vocally and obsessed with her vocal health. Cliché MT girl.
AMY- 19 year-old attractive female. An extremely warm, generous, kind soul that is later revealed to be a cancer patient. She's a musical volunteer with an angelic voice who plays guitar for patients.
DR. FOSTER- Late 40's Caucasian male. ALEX's Doctor at the Hospital, head of department. His directness can be confused for insensitivity; overall, a warm doctor. Saves his energy for the patients who need it most.
FLETCHER- 22 year-old Caucasian male. Somewhat attractive but not much confidence in himself. Considers himself a player though he never succeeds and constantly listens to hip-hop music. Truly a bit of a deadbeat. ALEX's best friend since high school.
*Equity/Non-Equity are encouraged to audition. If Equity, you will be under a “Level II Special Appearance Contract.” If Non-Equity, a $200 stipend will be given to each actor. MY OTHER VOICE has been selected as a finalist for the Araca Project in New York City which could result in future employment opportunities Off-Broadway in NYC. Artistic director of Theatre 167 (NYC), Ari Laura Kreith will be directing the world premiere.
